Linking Your CDCs to Local Anchor Institutions
2 pm–3:30 pm
www.lisc.org/resources/experts/

The Field Resources and Learning and Federal Policy units of LISC and The National Alliance of Community Economic Development Associations present: "Linking Your CDCs  to Local Anchor Institutions."

Faced with declining federal and state community development funding, CDCs are increasingly looking to
expand partnerships with local employers.  In many cities, the largest local employers are area nonprofit hospitals and universities.

These institutions are often called "anchor institutions" because, unlike private corporations, the nature of their business makes moving difficult, thus increasing the degree to which their success is dependent on community
economic well-being.

This panel will provide an overview of exemplary efforts nationwide, as well as profile two specific cases: highlighting both the benefits in terms of access to expertise and funding, as well as the challenges of building alliances with large nonprofit institutions.
