According to the Chicago Sun-Times, last year saw the deaths of more than 500 people in Chicago. These deaths occurred in our predominantly black and Latino communities, and many of these deaths were young people between the ages of 13 and 19.

This year's second annual Little Village Youth Forum will respond by focusing on the theme of "Building Community and Fighting Violence." The program has been created by young people across our neighborhood boundaries and will include workshops, live performances, a gallery exhibit and a community resource fair.

The keynote speaker is Andrea X. Guzman, Violence Prevention Project Coordinator at the Stroger Hospital Department of Trauma and a neighborhood resident. The event is free but advance registration is encouraged. For more information, contact Paulina Camacho at 773-844-8432 or Henry Cervantes at 773-996-0571.
